Discriptions
Networking and communications are at the heart of the Metaverse. Networks allow AR/VR/XR systems to connect to each other and to AI-driven services hosted on centralised data centers or across decentralised infrastructure. Communication ensures that networks can offer the low latency and massive datarates that are prerequisite. This raises a host of important and timely research challenges that demand urgent attention from the research community. This Track solicits papers on theoretical breakthroughs, novel techniques and systems, experimental validation, and real-world assessments.
We welcome contributions on Metaverse networking and communications, including, but not limited to:
- Ultra-low-latency networking for the Metaverse
- Enabling massive datarate communications for AR/VR/XR
- Network architectures, including edge computing, for the Metaverse
- Networking protocols for the Metaverse
- Multi-modal communication synchronisation
- Tactile-aware networked solutions
- Use of AI for optimising metaverse networks, including routing metrics and algorithms, resource allocation and management, traffic analysis, predictive and self-healing maintenance
- Quality of service control for the Metaverse
- Data center communications for the Metaverse
- Energy-efficient communications for the Metaverse
- B5G/6G for Metaverse applications
Paper Submission
Submitted manuscripts must be prepared according to the IEEE Conference Proceedings Format (double column, 10pt font, letter paper) and submitted in the PDF format. The manuscript submitted for review should be no longer than 8 pages. After the manuscript is accepted, the camera-ready paper may have up to 10 pages, subject to an additional fee per extra page. The paper review process will be double-blind.
All submissions to MetaCom 2025 must be uploaded to Easychair.
