Call for Workshop Papers (ISCCM 2024)

1st International Workshop on Integrated Sensing, Computation, and Communications for Metaverse (ISCCM 2024)

August 12-15, 2024 · Hong Kong SAR, China

Contents

To enable users to fully immerse themselves in online 3D virtual environments, the emergence of the Metaverse presents unprecedented challenges for future Internet of Things (IoT) systems. One of the key challenges lies in achieving real-time perception, which is essential for capturing the latest real-world information and seamlessly integrating it into virtual spaces. Wireless sensing, owing to its pervasive and adaptable nature, emerges as a viable solution to meet this requirement. While embedded non-contact sensors can fulfill these demands, a more promising approach involves integrating wireless sensing capabilities into existing communication devices, leveraging the same hardware, spectrum, and even transmission waveform. This integration paves the way for delivering high-precision perception services anywhere and anytime within the Metaverse. As a result, researchers have embarked on exploring the collaborative design of perception and communication functionalities for future mobile computing devices, a research endeavor commonly referred to as the Integrated Sensing, Communication and Computation (ISCC) system. This pursuit holds the potential to revolutionize the digital landscape and accelerate the realization of the Metaverse.

Recent studies have identified various influential factors crucial for delivering a real-time and immersive Metaverse experience. These factors encompass advanced beamforming and precoding techniques, innovative network architectures and protocols, novel system designs, and more robust computing and recognition algorithms. In line with these developments, the 1st International Workshop on Integrated Sensing, Computation and Communications for Metaverse is scheduled to take place in Hong Kong, China. This event aims to bring together ISCC researchers from academia, industry, national research laboratories, and funding institutions to showcase their latest research findings and engage in discussions on overcoming the forthcoming challenges of integrating communication, computation and perception within the Metaverse. Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

Submission Guide

Submitted papers must represent original material that is not currently under review in any other conference or journal and has not been previously published. Paper length should not exceed the 6-page standard IEEE conference two-column format (including all text, figures, and references). Please see the Author Information page for submission guidelines in the IEEE MetaCom 2024. All submitted papers will go through a peer review process. All accepted and presented papers will be included in the IEEE MetaCom 2024 proceedings. IEEE reserves the right to exclude an accepted and registered but not presented paper from the IEEE digital library.
